The Perfection Hypothesis

In consideration of Christmas, its tenets, and its topic area, allow me to introduce the 'Perfection Hypothesis'. The Perfection Hypothesis states "Within the context of three constraints, that in any single universe, where everything that exists is the result of directed thought and not a result of random events, and that it is drastically more likely that single consciousness is responsible for this creation as opposed to a collective of consciousness', if a single example of perfection can be found, than by definition, everything single aspect of this universe is perfect" The defense of this hypothesis is that if a single something created a perfect thing, then by definition, it is perfect, and then by definition, everything it created, however seemingly imperfect, must also be perfect. This might be referred to as the transitive property of perfection.
The reason this hypothesis is relevant to anyone, much less the holidays, is because it speaks to how we see ourselves, our situation, and divinity based belief systems. Christians have been taught that man is a fallen being who is in desperate need of redemption. Christianity sees the world as a corrupt environment that must be negotiated and avoided by any who desire righteousness. Christians are to be in the world but not of the world. Life is described as a place of suffering that must be endured to reap the perfection of the afterlife.
The perfection hypothesis counters this perspective with the view that every single aspect of this reality is perfect and exactly as it needs to be and was intended to be. Now this may strike many as a radical assertion as nearly everyone would interpret beheadings and napalm as irredeemably horrible realities. At first blush, it seems incomprehensible that the Gulag Archipelago can be seen in any light other than horrible. Nevertheless, the transitive properties of perfection cannot be refuted. Perfection cannot come from a imperfect source and a perfect source cannot generate an imperfect result.
As Sherlock Holmes was credited with saying, "When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth". Unless one rejects the premise that the physical universe is perfect, violating the transitive law is the impossible. So it is left to the reader to attempt to rationalize how such horrible realities like the holocaust can fit within a perfect universe. This is an argument that will be explored in a future article.
The purpose of this article is to assert that the universe is indeed perfect in every single detail and that the adoption of this assertion is not only required by logic, but is also a far superior hypothesis than Christianity's counter hypothesis. Not only does it make is so much easier to remain upbeat and optimistic in one's mood, it is also much more likely to lead to better life decisions. Life decisions based on a false and even diametrically incorrect premise will almost always have less desirable results than decisions based on more optimistic and almost certainly more accurate hypothesis of an otherwise unknown and unprovable underlying reality.
Incidentally, Christians subscribe to the three constraints to which the transitive property is based. They believe in a single perfect 'creator' who created an imperfect creature. Something with infinite knowledge creates a creature with essentially no knowledge and then condemns it for making decisions it determines as being imperfect. It would be like lobotomizing someone and then condemning them for not being able to carry on a conversation. This hypothesis says that a perfect being doesn't do imperfection because it can't do imperfection. It is a contradiction in terms and it certainly doesn't engage in the imperfect behavior of blaming an idiot for acting idiotically. Just saying.
